Lauren spent a lot of time in New Orleans and made a good deal of work there; she found inspiration in its culture, it’s people and its history. Inspired by the trees dripping with beads along the parade route in New Orleans during Carnival season, these trees were recreated in places outside of New Orleans, shifting the context of those happenstance and accidental sculptures. These are a nod to her fascination with aftermath and detritus, the beaded trees being symbols of the evidence of a celebration.
