Lauren has always looked for the place in between fantasy and reality in her work, and roller-skating exists in that place; it embodies fun, joy, movement, and escapism. She photographed the LA Roller Girls in and around Venice Beach, an iconic setting linked to skating. She utilized the intrinsic relationship to their environment through play with color, light, and place.
